Letter to Morgan County Art Program Teachers

Tuesday, February 14, 2023

To the attention of all Morgan County School Art Program Teachers,

The Morgan County Tourism Alliance is organizing the 2023 Tennessee Mountain Laurel Festival.  This year we are highlighting artisans in a special venue.  The Courthouse lower level will be dedicated to a variety of art creativity.  We have scheduled someone quilting and crocheting and are contacting other persons to share their skills.  Share Yours!

It is of particular interest that the youth of our county be represented.  We invite you to choose art work for display.  It can be any media.  Below are the grade level categories.  If you do not have art work to fall into those categories, please bring something of your choosing.  Art done by students or teachers outside of school are also welcome to exhibit.

The display exhibit requests are listed below.

Please participate.  Art is an important part of a school curriculum.  This participation is one of the ways we can emphasize its impact on the student and their creativity.

            Grades K-5

            Grades 6-8

            Grades 9-12

Name – Grade and School clearly shown

If the exhibit needs a tri-pod for viewing the art work, please bring one.

The art work can be brought to the Tanner Store.  All art work should be received by Wednesday May 17 so space can be delegated.  Exhibits need to be taken down on festival day by 6 pm.  Let us know you are coming and if you have questions, please call me.

You are invited to conduct simple art work projects for the children at the festival to take home with them.   The children enjoy doing projects.
