Open House from 11 am until 2 pm on Saturday May 17 during the Tennessee Mountain Laurel Festival.

J. E. Tanner and his wife Maude Williams Tanner raised their five sons and one daughter in this home and it was last occupied by the youngest son, Nick Tanner. In recent years it has suffered serious deterioration and was in danger of being lost altogether.
In 2020 it was purchased from a member of the Tanner family and donated to the Tanner House Association. The Association then went to work to form a state-chartered 501(c)(3) non-profit volunteer charitable organization dedicated to restoring, preserving and maintaining the historic Tanner House in Wartburg, Tennessee with the goal of making the Tanner House a productive asset to the community.
The Association chose Tom Aslinger to be the Project Manager for this restoration which began in 2021. His first tasks were to get the roof replaced and repair the chimneys in order to stop the water damage. Since then, he and his crew have worked steadily as donations and weather have permitted. Pictures of the home as it was attest to the wonderful work of Tom and his crew.
The restoration is now complete and the Tanner House Association will host an Open House from 11 am until 2 pm on Saturday May 17 during the Tennessee Mountain Laurel Festival.
